Jan Stoltz presents the approach to almost 250 visual effect shots that TRIXTER created for one of the biggest and most expensive German feature film productions based on a novel from the author Michael Ende (The Neverending Story), Jim Button and Luke the Engine Driver.

TRIXTER was mainly responsible for all digital creatures and environments for about 20 minutes of the final feature. Jan will talk about the creation of the characters and how to breathe life into talking dragons performing with human actors.

Jan Stoltz was born 1973 in Bremerhaven, Germany. He began his cinematic education in 1994 at the renowned Filmschool Baden-Württemberg that he successfully graduated in 1999 with specializing in animation and digital image production. He directly started off his professional career as Visual Effects Supervisor and Animator for feature, television and commercial projects.

After a year of Hollywood experience in Los Angeles in 2004 as Character Animator for I, Robot and Disney he returned back to Germany. Since then he is working as Visual Effects Supervisor and Animation Director for international features and TV series as well as big German features like the most recent Jim Button and Luke The Engine Driver.

In 2017 he directed his first full length animated feature Capt´n Sharky which will have its cinematic release in summer 2018.

Jan has worked in projects like Ninja Assassin (2008) as CG Supervisor (TRIXTER), Kika Superbruja. El Viaje a Mandolán (2010) as Visual Effects Supervisor, The 7th Dwarf (2013) as Animation Director, Fear the Walking Dead (2016) as VFX Supervisor (TRIXTER) or Fast and the Furious 8 (2017) as VFX Supervisor (TRIXTER) among others.
