In this talk we will see how the project for BMW with the "virtual influencer" Lil Miquela was conceived, planned and executed, using new techniques for the generation of hyper detailed facial animation and the impact in the world of visual effects of new AI pipelines.

With the acceleration of artificial intelligence, we are opening new doors in the world of visual effects, at ROHTAU we have bet on using these techniques to free up directors and allow them to direct the action again instead of copying it.

Based on everything we have researched over the last few years; we have developed new methods to animate faces using AI and eliminate the "uncanny valley" typical of productions where faces are replaced.

Jordi has been the post-production director for many of the most prestigious television commercials of the last 23 years. With a reputation for pushing creative boundaries, he has collaborated with some of the world's leading directors for brands such as Adidas, Citroen, Guinness, Heineken, Carlsberg, Thomson, Levis, LG, Nike, Philips, Sony, Visa, Strongbow and Radiohead.

Jordi studied Architecture in Barcelona and also worked in software engineering and traditional animation before leaving Barcelona to join Jim Henson's Creature Shop, The Mill, Realize Studio, Glassworks and Framestore, culminating in opening his own studio in London, Rohtau.

His eye for structure and creating effects based on physical reality is very much the driving force behind his approach. His skill and problem-solving abilities have helped many directors and agencies win awards and accolades, and his own contribution has also been highlighted with multiple awards.

After 10 years at The Mill, Jordi's drive to reinvent the way visual effects are designed and created has led him to find his own voice, finally taking him on an incredible journey where, together with some of the best visual effects artists, he is pushing the boundaries of what is possible by combining traditional film techniques with the latest cutting-edge cloud-based technologies and using Artificial Intelligence to solve the most difficult problems.

Jordi has won numerous BTAA Craft Awards, several Clio awards, a D&AD Yellow Pencil at the Australian Effects and Animation Festival, Australia's Young Guns and London International Awards for work including the Sony Balls, Sony Playstation Mountain and Toohey′s The Quest commercials.
