Crimson Harbor is probably one of the best indie real-time animation short films you're going to see in a long time. Written and directed by Victor Bonafonte and co-produced by Beauty and The Bit and Raised by Monsters, Crimson Harbor was born and developed as a beautiful challenge: to shoot an animated short film with adult themes and aesthetics, exploring dreamscapes that move away from the look of video games and go down paths that resonate more with cinema.
The internal premise was to create the short film with real time technology, with all the advantages and disadvantages it entails.
The real challenge came when trying to tackle a production of this caliber with very little budget, a very small crew and very short times... that's when the adventure really began.
Víctor Bonafonte
With a degree in architecture, Víctor is the CEO of one of the most international architectural communication companies, Beauty and The Bit. At a certain point he made the leap first to the world of VFX, then to art direction, videogames and film direction, where he has been director and also production designer.
Among Víctor's best-known pieces is Rebirth, a milestone in photorealistic animation made with Unreal Engine in real time, a piece for which he was Art Director. Subsequently, he has collaborated in film directing projects for artists such as David Guetta, Snoop Dogg, Akon, etc. Crimson Harbor is his latest short film to date.
Emilio Ferrari
Emilio Ferrari is a Motion Capture Supervisor and one of the co-founders of Raised By Monsters. He works on the development of motion capture tools. He also leads research and development efforts focused on finding ways to combine VFX, movies and Unreal Engine through playable tools.
He was motion capture supervisor on Blanca Li's Le Bals du Paris, Golden Lion at Cannes in 2021.
